Chunchu (Inkarri) Symbols Mesa / Mestana

Martina Apaza Lunasco created this exquisite mesa cloth using soft hues of bright colors for the Inkarri / Chunchu figures. She used a teal color for the inner bands of Chunchus, which makes this a stand-out textile. (NB:  the color is a bit richer and a bit of green-teal than may appear on your monitor.) Four bands of symbols of sacred Chunchu symbols express the traditional Q’ero myth of the coming return of Inkarri (great Inka leader) and the resurgence of the greatness of the descendants of the Inka people. This mesa evokes a calm confidence in a world coming into harmony and balance. Martina wove this mesa kneeling on the ground outside her home in Kiku (Quico) village of Q’eros. Your purchase helps her, her family, and her community build a more sustainable life and supports traditional Q’ero culture.  26 x 31 inches. 65 x 79 cm.
