Saqas Tika Mestana / Llikya – Vintage Style

$180.00

Out of stock

This stunning mestana / misa cloth was woven in the style of decades ago. Although it is new, it appears to be vintage from pre-contact days.  (See Hidden Threads of Peru: Q’Ero Textiles: Rowe, Anne Pollard, Cohen, John, Textile Museum (Washington, D. C.): 9781858941486: Amazon.com: Books or “Hidden Threads of Peru – Q’ero Textiles” by Anne Pollard Rowe and John Cohen – Weave a Real Peace)   The sacred symbols feature Saqas Tika.  All Q’ero weavings are like visual poetry that express the Q’ero people’s intimate and reciprocal relationship of AYNI with all elements of the universe. The black bands and deep maroon bands represent the uncultivated fields.  29.5 x 26 inches.  75 x 67 cm.
