Q’ero women wear multiple layers of skirts of loosely woven wool with a bright band of woven color at the hem. An elder of Ccochamarka village, Luisa Machaca Champi sold us one of the skirts she was wearing for money to buy essentials such as cooking oil and salt.
Photos: Luisa holding this skirt; Luisa holding a completed textile; and Luisa at work at her loom with her friends in the background. A photo of Luisa holding this skirt is included with your purchase.
