Cristina Suclle Apasa wove this striking, colorful mesa outside her home in the tiny hamlet of Quico. Four rows of bold Chunchu sysmbols represent the return of Inkari and the return of balance in the world. Woven of natural alpaca fibers and naturally dyed yellow alpaca yarns, soft yellow and grey fields mix with colors of green, purple, white, black and pink from traditional dyes made from boiling plants and herbs. The contrasts evoke the colorful spirit and pride of the Q’ero people. Q’ero mesa cloths are woven in two panels to reflect the sacred complementary duality of male and female as lived in the Andes of Peru. Your purchase helps Cristina, her family, and her community build a more sustainable life and supports traditional Q’ero culture.  26 x 24 inches. 66 x 61 cm.  Your purchase includes a photo of Cristina holding your new mestana, connecting you to her home and lineage.
