Julia Machaca Paucar created this exquisite mesa cloth using soft, earth-toned threads of alpaca fibers. The double Inkarri / Chunchu figures and sacred Inti symbols express the traditional Q’ero myth of the coming return of Inkarri (great Inka leader) and the resurgence of the greatness of the descendants of the Inka people. This large, lovely mesa evokes the deep wisdom of the Q’ero ancestors who passed these weaving techniques. Julia wove this mesa on a four post loom outside her home in Hapu village of Q’eros. Your purchase includes a photo of her husband holding the textile for purchase. You are helping her and her community build a more sustainable life and supports traditional Q’ero culture.
