Lucia Samata Machaca is a master weaver in Ccochamarca. She created this exquisite mesa cloth using soft hues of bright colors (all natural plant dyes) for the large Inkarri / Chunchu figures. The contrasting colors, orange against black, and yellow and grey against red, are boldly stitched into four wide bands of Chunchus, which makes this a stand-out textile. Sacred Chunchu symbols express the traditional Q’ero myth of the coming return of Inkarri (great Inka leader) and the resurgence of the greatness of the descendants of the Inka people. This mesa evokes a calm confidence in a world coming into harmony and balance. Lucia wove this mesa on a four post loom outside her home in Ccochamarca village of Q’eros. Your purchase helps her, her family, and her community build a more sustainable life and supports traditional Q’ero culture. 29 x 27 inches. 74 x 68 cm.
