This scarf is a treasure. Made of natural alpaca fibers, this dark chocolate colored chalina is decorated with bands of red and green Inti and Qocha symbols made from all natural plant dyes. Everything about this textile is traditional Q’ero. The scarf is thick and textured, but course to the touch, even though the yarns are tightly spun and tightly woven. The bands utilize thicker yarns giving the chalina a dimensional texture. It is lovely as a gift, as a scarf, a runner, or an ornamental wall hanging. Purchase includes a photo of the weaver, Albina Apasa Gerillo, holding your textile in her home village of Hapu.
We see the art and tradition of weaving as sacred, and celebrate the fact that everyone participates in keeping this knowledge alive. Your purchase supports the continuation of the craft and allows women to live and thrive with dignity. 52 x 6.5 inches plus fringe. 132 x 16.5 cm.
