Q'ero Hats & Scarves
Q’ero men knit their hats using 5 curved knitting needles. Each of the seven levels of sacred symbols represents an aspect of the Andean cosmovision. When a man would court a woman, he would painstakingly add thousands of beads to demonstrate to his beloved that he has the virtue of patience. Woven hatbands are worn by both men and women and are often beaded as well.

Building a High School in the Clouds
Our generous donors are funding the first high school in the ethnic Hapu Q’ero region of Peru. Children will no longer have to leave their families to attend secondary school. This new high school at 12,000 feet elevation in the Andes will bring relief to many families struggling to help their children get a basic education.
